Subramanya Swamy temple

The Arulmigu Enkan Murugan Temple, located near Tiruvarur in Tamil Nadu, is a sacred hill temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, the god of war and wisdom. Revered as one of the significant Murugan shrines in the region, it is believed to be one of the spots where Lord Murugan rested after his battle with the demon Soorapadman. The temple is steeped in legend its name, "Enkan," meaning “My Eyes,” comes from a miraculous tale of a blind sculptor who, after creating a divine idol here, regained his vision when blood from a helper’s cut finger fell into his eyes. Overwhelmed, he exclaimed "Engan! Engan!" (My eyes!), which became the name of the place. Perched atop a small hill, the temple provides a serene setting ideal for spiritual reflection. Lord Murugan, worshipped here as Subramanya Swamy, stands in a majestic posture radiating valor and divine grace. Shrines for Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Ganesha are also present, completing the divine family. The temple showcases traditional Tamil architecture with an elegant gopuram and mandapams, and becomes especially vibrant during Thaipusam and Skanda Sashti. Devotees believe prayers here relieve obstacles, health issues, and mental distress while promoting courage, clarity, and spiritual growth. ⏰ Session Open Hours Morning 6:00 AM To 11:00 AM Evening4:00 PM To 8:30 PM

Venni Karumbeswarar Temple

Venni Karumbeshwarar Kshetra is an ancient and sacred Shiva temple located in the village of Kovil Venni, near Needamangalam in Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvarur District. Historically known as Tiruvenni, this temple is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams in Chozha Naadu (south of the Cauvery), glorified in the hymns of Tamil Shaivite saints. Lord Shiva here is worshipped as Karumbeshwarar, represented uniquely as a Lingam shaped like a bundle of sugarcane stems, symbolizing sweetness and divine grace. The region was once covered in sugarcane (karumbu) and Venni trees, hence the name. The consort of the Lord is known as Goddess Soundaranayagi. Locally, He is also referred to as Rasapureeswarar, meaning "Lord of Sweet Essence," aligning with the belief that devotion at this shrine brings the sweet essence of divine blessings. Over time, the village name evolved from Venniyur to Kovil Venni, centered around the temple. This place is also the birthplace of Vennikuyathiar, a celebrated poet of the Sangam period who contributed to Purananuru, and Chola King Karikala Chola, who is believed to have significantly renovated and promoted the temple following his historic Venni war victory. The temple is also notable for conducting a special “Diabetes Relief Puja”, a Vedic ritual believed to aid in healing chronic ailments like diabetes. Devotees believe this sacred puja, invoking Lord Karumbeshwarar and Goddess Soundaranayagi, helps cleanse karmic blockages, restore inner energy balance, and promote well-being. ⏰ Session Open Hours Morning 8:00 AM To 12:00 PM Evening 5:00 PM To 8:00 PM
