Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peetam

Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peetam, located in Melmaruvathur (Tamil Nadu), is a revered spiritual center dedicated to the divine mother Arulthiru Adhiparasakthi. This sacred site, also known as Melmaruvathur Temple, attracts devotees from across India, especially followers of the Sakthi tradition. The temple is unique in allowing entry to people of all castes, creeds, and religions, and even women are permitted to perform poojas an inclusive practice that reflects its progressive philosophy. At the heart of the temple is the Swayambu, a naturally formed, oval-shaped rock that emerged after a storm uprooted a neem tree. This is considered the temple’s primary deity. Initially, a simple hut was built over the Swayambu, and the presence of 21 Siddhars who attained Jeeva Samadhi in the area is also honored. Over time, the idol of Adhi Parasakthi was installed in the sanctum. The Peetam is guided by His Holiness Arulthiru Bangaru Adigalar, revered as “Amma” by devotees. He is believed to be an incarnation of Adhi Parasakthi and is known for delivering divine messages (Arulvaaku). The temple is especially noted for its unique practice of allowing women to worship during menstruation, emphasizing their spiritual equality. The Siddhar Peetam promotes service, discipline, vegetarianism, and meditation, in line with Siddha principles. Thousands gather during the Thai and Panguni months, and Fridays are especially sacred. The complex houses meditation halls, a spiritual museum, and a sanctum where devotees light ghee lamps and pray with deep devotion. Melmaruvathur is not just a temple it is a spiritual movement rooted in equality, service, and inner awakening.
