A devotee named Poovan Battar, a priest at the nearby Thirumalai Kaliamman Temple, had a vision of Lord Murugan instructing him to find a hidden stone idol beneath a bamboo bush at a place called Kottaithiradu. The dream revealed that ants would guide him to the exact location. Following this divine sign, the idol was discovered and consecrated atop the hill, where the temple was later built. The temple is believed to be over a thousand years old and holds deep cultural and religious significance. Devotees climb a scenic flight of 625 steps or take a winding ghat road to reach the hilltop sanctum. The main deity, Lord Murugan, is worshipped here in a serene and powerful form, believed to bless devotees with courage, clarity, and success.
