Athankarai Pallivasal is a revered Islamic shrine located near the town of Thiruchendur in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. Set amidst a peaceful coastal landscape, this sacred dargah holds spiritual significance for both Muslims and people of other faiths, symbolizing unity, faith, and divine blessings.According to local legend, Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad and Sayed Ali Fatima, missionaries from Arabia, were shipwrecked along the coast and settled in the nearby forest. They spent their lives teaching Islam and were later buried side by side, making the dargah unique for its dual tombs, which symbolize their spiritual partnership and devotion. Pilgrims believe the couple’s tombs fulfill heartfelt desires and offer divine grace.
