Dochula Pass

Dochula Pass is a mountain pass in the Kingdom of Bhutan, situated on the road from Thimphu to Punakha. It is approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Thimphu. The pass is a notable landmark on the route between the two cities. Dochula Pass is located at an elevation of about 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) above sea level. Due to its altitude, it provides panoramic views of the eastern Himalayan mountain range, including snow-capped peaks on clear days. The pass is adorned with 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, also known as stupas or chedis. These chortens were built in memory of Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives in the 2003 conflict against insurgents from India.
