The temple is built in the Hoysala architectural style and is known for its star-shaped plan, intricate carvings, and detailed sculptures. The outer walls of the temple are covered with an abundance of finely carved friezes depicting various mythological and secular themes. The main sanctum of the temple houses a Shiva Linga (an iconic representation of Lord Shiva), and the inner sanctum is surrounded by a well-decorated hall.
