Approximately 72 km from Trichy, this hidden gem offers a blend of tranquility and natural drama, as water plunges into a deep black‑rock pool sometimes up to 60 feet deep creating a striking emerald reservoir below. The falls are fed by the Koraiyaru stream, which merges with others to form the larger Vellar River flowing through the Eastern Ghats. Reaching the waterfall involves trekking roughly 3 km through rugged, forested terrain, crossing shallow streams and rocky patches, so local guidance is strongly recommended. There’s no entry fee and no formal infrastructure yet no changing rooms, railings, or food stalls making it a raw and unspoiled site, though recent efforts aim to improve access with a 2‑km paved stretch from Pudur village down into the falls. Ideal for hiking, nature photography, and peaceful reflection, Koraiyar Falls is perfect for small groups or solo explorers who cherish solitude and scenic beauty. Due to the deep water and slippery rocks, caution is advised only venture in if you’re steady on your feet.
