The deity here is worshipped as Sarangapani Perumal, and the temple is famed for its rich Dravidian architecture, religious significance, and historical legacy. The temple’s main sanctum is shaped like a chariot drawn by horses and elephants, symbolizing Vishnu's descent to Earth. According to legend, Lord Vishnu arrived here in a chariot to marry Lakshmi, who was born as Komalavalli Thayar.
