About La Saleth Church

La Saleth Church is sited up on a cliff edge outside of town. In order to reach there, you have to ascend a steep staircase which guides you to the door of this beautiful shrine. It's a 150+ year old church dedicated to Lady Saleth. The church looks quite pretty with the blue color. It is situated on the hill and gives really good panaromic views of the city. The architecture is Gothic. The stain glass within and the facade of the church are original. The wings were added in later. The setting of the church itself on top of the mount makes the settings magnificent. Calm and quiet church situated in a serene atmosphere where clouds meets the ground and the mist covers you in toto. The structure is very strong, the roof is made of tin outside and wood inside. A must visit place in Kodaikanal. The surrounding view off the mountains is pretty imposing. In fact a walking track from here goes to the Vattaanal Waterfalls.
