Mayil Ootru Waterfalls

Mayil Ootru Waterfalls, also locally known as Mayil Uthu, is a charming seasonal cascade nestled in the foothills of the lush Pachaimalai (Green Hills) in Perambalur district, Tamil Nadu. Its name “peacock’s drink” derives from a peacock-shaped rock formation at its crest, from which water gracefully plunges into a serene pool below.This waterfall is at its most spectacular during and just after the monsoon season, from October through February, when the rains swell the streams and fill the pool, creating an inviting natural spot perfect for swimming and picnicking . Outside this rainy period, the falls often dry up, leaving only a rocky bed .Visitors drive or ride up to a small hamlet near Ladapuram village before embarking on a short trekking trail roughly 500 m to 1 km through forest terrain to reach the falls.The forest canopy shelters the path, offering glimpses of native herbs and birdlife (including peafowl), adding a nature lover’s delight to the hike .
