Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa is located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, approximately 216 kilometers north of Colombo, the capital city. It is part of the Cultural Triangle, which includes several other important historical sites. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa is a well-preserved archaeological site with numerous structures dating back to the 11th to 13th centuries. It features monumental stupas, palaces, statues, and intricately carved stone inscriptions. Parakrama Samudra is a massive artificial reservoir or tank built by King Parakramabahu I.
