Tenzing Rock & Gompu Rock

Tenzing Rock and Gombu Rock are prominent rock formations in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. They are named after two legendary personalities in the world of mountaineering, Tenzing Norgay and Nawang Gombu, who were associated with the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. Tenzing Rock is located about 3 kilometers from the town center of Darjeeling. This massive rock is named after Tenzing Norgay, the Sherpa mountaineer who, along with Sir Edmund Hillary, became the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. Tenzing Rock is a popular spot for rock climbing and rappelling. Visitors can engage in these activities under the guidance of trained instructors. Gombu Rock is also situated in Darjeeling, close to Tenzing Rock. The rock is named after Nawang Gombu, who was the nephew of Tenzing Norgay and the first person to reach the summit of Mount Everest twice.
