From September through December, the sanctuary attracts up to 10,000 migratory birds, including purple moorhens and openbill storks, and features a diverse avifauna such as grey heron, white ibis, darter, spoonbill, night heron, little cormorant, and white-necked stork. In February–March, visitors can spot large congregations of purple moorhens and openbill storks .The sanctuary supports ecological well-being: its wetlands act as flood buffers and groundwater recharge zones, enhancing biodiversity and sustaining local agriculture. Its varied habitats including open water, lily patches, reed brakes, and aquatic grasses create ideal nesting and feeding grounds. Facilities include two watchtowers for bird observation and a basic trail for visitors. There’s no entry fee, and it's open year-round with peak birdwatching from November to February.
