Ramanathaswamy Temple, located in the sacred town of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu, is one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds immense significance in Hinduism. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and also part of the Char Dham Yatra, making it a major spiritual destination for pilgrims across India. Built in traditional Dravidian architecture, the temple is renowned for its longest corridor in Asia, stretching over 1,200 meters, supported by intricately carved 1,200+ pillars. The symmetry and grandeur of these corridors create a visually mesmerizing experience. The temple’s spiritual legacy is deeply tied to the Ramayana. According to legend, Lord Rama needed to atone for killing Ravana, who was a Brahmin. Advised by sages, Rama sought to worship Lord Shiva and instructed Hanuman to bring a lingam from the Himalayas. As Hanuman’s return was delayed, Sita crafted a lingam from sand to ensure the ritual occurred at the auspicious time. Both lingams the sand lingam (Ramanathaswamy) and the Vishwalingam brought by Hanuman are enshrined within the temple today. Devotees also bathe in the 22 holy theerthams (sacred water tanks) within the temple complex, believed to cleanse sins and purify the soul. With its blend of spiritual power, mythological history, and architectural splendor, the Ramanathaswamy Temple stands as a timeless beacon of faith, devotion, and divine energy. ⏰ Session Open Hours Morning 4 AM To 1 PM Evening 3 PM To 8 PM

Dhanushkodi Beach, located at the southeastern tip of Rameswaram Island in Tamil Nadu, is a breathtaking stretch of untouched coastline where the Bay of Bengal meets the Indian Ocean. Known as the “ghost town,” Dhanushkodi was destroyed during the 1964 cyclone, leaving behind haunting ruins and a mystical atmosphere. Today, it stands as a symbol of nature’s power and serene beauty. The beach is famed for its crystal-clear waters, white sands, and panoramic views of the endless sea. Unlike commercial beaches, Dhanushkodi remains largely unspoiled, offering a tranquil and almost surreal experience. Standing at the tip, visitors can see the meeting point of two seas, a rare and magical sight. The Ruins of the old town, including a church, railway station, and post office, add a historical charm. It is also believed to be the place where Lord Rama built the bridge (Ram Setu) to Lanka, giving it deep spiritual importance. Dhanushkodi Beach is perfect for photography, quiet reflection, and soaking in nature’s raw beauty. Coakers Walk
kodaikanal, tamilnadu
It is a narrow pedestrian path, constructed by Lt. Coaker in 1872, a one kilometer mountain road which runs along the edge of steep slopes on the southern side of Kodai road which is 1/2km away from Kodai. The walk winding around mt. Nebo starts near van Allen hospital and joins the main road above St. Peter's Church provides a wide-angle spectacular view of the plains. On a cloudless, clear day one can have interesting sights, such as.... Dolphin's nose in south, valley of the pambar river in South East, birds eye view of Periyakulam and even city of Madurai. One must be aware of a fascinating phenomenon called 'Brachem Spectre' . A very lucky person can see his shadow on the clouds with a rainbow halo, when sun is behind and cloud and mist is in his front. The valley views along paved Coaker's Walk (admission Rs 2, Camera Rs. 5, Time: 7 am to 7pm) are superb when the mist clears. There's an observatory (admission Rs. 3) with telescope about halfway along. You can start from either end, near Greenlands Youth Hostel or Villa Retreat, and the stroll takes all of five minutes. The views from Pillar Rocks, a 7km hike (one way beginning near Bryant Park), are also excellent. Greenlands Youth Hostel and Villa Retreat can organise guided walks, and guides can also be arranged through the tourist office (Rs. 50 to 70 per hour).
